About the ride
Whissenhunt is a national forest OHV area for motorcycles and ATVs under 50 inches wide. Every trail runs one way, which makes it a comfortable place to ride without worrying about oncoming traffic.
The trails range from easy to most difficult, with real mountain climbs and descents. Mountain grades use a lot more battery than the flat trails near Greensboro, so plan shorter loops at first.
Iron Mountain Park is also near Dahlonega if you want a second day of riding.

From Dahlonega, take US 19/60 north 2.2 miles, turn left on Wahsega Rd toward Camp Frank D. Merrill, and go 3.9 miles to FS 662 on the left.
Good to know
- Closed January 1 through March 31 every year.
- Closed when the trails are wet. Call the Blue Ridge Ranger District at (706) 745-6928.
- Buy your day pass on Recreation.gov before you go.
- The $50 annual Georgia OHV pass also covers Town Creek, Oakey Mountain, and Beasley Knob.
