About paddling here
Old Salem is one of three Georgia Power parks on Lake Oconee. It has a campground, a swimming beach, a playground, picnic areas, and a boat ramp, so the whole family has something to do while you paddle.
Launch at the ramp, not the swimming beach, and give the marked swim area plenty of room. From the ramp you can follow the shoreline and poke into the nearby coves, which are calmer than the open lake.
It's one of the closest public launches to our store, which makes it an easy after-work paddle in summer.

Good to know
- The park and campground are open March 1 through November 30.
- Stay out of the marked swimming area.
- Weekend afternoons bring more boat traffic. Mornings are calmer.
- Pets are welcome in the campground.
