Oakey Mountain OHV Trails (Lake Burton)
Rocky, steep mountain trails in the Chattahoochee National Forest between Lake Burton and Lake Rabun. Best for riders with some experience.

About the ride
Oakey Mountain is run by the Chattooga River Ranger District and is open to OHVs under 48 inches wide. The trails are two-way, so stay alert on blind corners.
The terrain runs from intermediate to rocky and steep, which makes it a better fit for riders who already have some trail time. Steep climbs drain batteries fast, so start with a full charge and turn around with plenty left.
The trailhead has a picnic area and a vault toilet, but no water.

From Clayton, take US 76 west 7 miles, left on Charlie Mountain Rd for 3.6 miles, right on Bridge Creek Rd for 2 miles, right on Burton Dam Rd for 1.6 miles, then left on FS 161.
Good to know
- Open March 15 through December 31.
- No riding between sunset and sunrise, no exceptions.
- Closed when trails are wet. Call the Chattooga River Ranger District at (706) 754-6221.
- Pay on site by cash or check, or buy a digital pass on Recreation.gov.
