About the ride
Hart Farm Trails is one of the closest mountain bike rides to Lake Oconee. The main outer loop runs a little over 8 miles and is marked with white flags. The trails pop in and out of the woods along a power line easement, so you're never far from the trailhead.
This is old-school, hand-cut trail in a hardwood forest: roots, rocks, twisty turns, short punchy climbs, sweeping descents, a creek crossing, and a little doubletrack. It's a good fit for intermediate riders. Newer riders can do it too, but expect to walk a few climbs.
The trailhead has a covered picnic area, a restroom, and a bike wash station, and the trail keepers have set a few tables and chairs along the loop for breaks.
The land is leased, and the trails rely on donations to pay for it. There's a donation box at the trailhead. If you ride here, drop something in it.

The entrance is about 100 yards up a dirt driveway at the corner of Crawfordville Rd and Carlton Ave. Look for the signs.

- Skip it after heavy rain. Roots get slick.
