About the ride

FATS is six stacked loops built with mountain bikers in mind. The trails are known for speed and flow more than technical features, which makes them fun for newer riders and a place where experienced riders can really move.

The main South Trailhead serves the Brown Wave, Skinny, Great Wall, and Deep Step loops. The North Trailhead sits next to the Big Rock and Tower loops. Skinny is the usual starting loop for first-timers.

FATS was closed for a long stretch after Hurricane Helene and has since reopened. The Forest Service closes the trails when they are wet, so call the Call Before You Haul hotline at 803-561-4025 before making the drive.
